“PASSION. CRAFTSMANSHIP. AND A CONTINUOUS STRIVE FOR OBTAINING AUTHENTIC SOUND” is the slogan atop the ‘About’ section of the Vifa homepage and that is precisely the motto they radiate when you see, hear and feel their gorgeous collection of Scandi-chic speakers, each named after iconic Nordic city – Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen.
Many will be surprised to learn that Vifa started way back in 1933 by auto-mechanic, N.C. Madsen, from a little Danish countryside village. Starting off producing audio components, the brand in recent years moved into producing speakers filled with their high-end components and designed in archetypal Scandinavian minimalist design and craftsmanship through their collaborations with other local Nordic-born houses; Kvadrat, Europe’s leading manufacturer for design textiles developed the unique woven textile covers across all speakers, and local leather artisans produce the handles on the Helsinki range.
Despite a heavy influence and focus on design, the many years of developing speaker components for other luxury electronic companies have enabled Vifa to hone exceptional skill and knowledge to create the perfect inner workings of great sounding speakers (and one which has won awards!). The sound is authentic, and integrates all the requirements of a modern speaker – wireless connectivity tech, like bluetooth, wifi, airplay and more mean few cables and easy connectivity to a huge range of devices; multiple woofers mean crisp sounding heavy bass lines without distortion; enough tweeters and mid levels to make soothing acoustic covers to classical piano sound like it’s in the same room as you; and an app that lets you control your speaker directly from your phone.
Vifa has been featured among the likes of Cool Hunting, Design Milk, Design Boom, Selecticism and many more. A heralded piece of technology championed by those in design and those in tech.
